Business Lesson Activity - Needs vs Wants Pitch-it
This resource introduces the concept of needs vs wants by students sorting the importance of items via a set of cards. Students will then think about how organisations differentiate their goods or services and create a 'pitch' for it e.g. one electricity business pitching against another - how can the business encourage customers?
This activity (and set of cards) can also be used to discuss private sector vs public sector and the concept of opportunity cost (what items would they give up?).
The activity can be used across a range of levels - KS3, GCSE or A-level. Clearly, the depth of discussion will differ.
AQA GCSE Business (9-1) Progress Check - Self-assessment
This pack includes all of the content that learners should be able to do for the new AQA GCSE Business (9-1) course. It covers all six content sections of the course.
Students can use this to self-assess their progress as they complete sections of the course. Teachers can use it monitor the confidence levels and areas of weakness for individual students or for the class as a whole. It can inform future teaching.
Business Case Study - Cath Kidston
This is a two-sided case study for the business Cath Kidston. It includes a SWOT analysis, financial data, objectives and information on marketing, operations and HRM.
The case study can be used to base your own questions or activities on or students could be asked to develop the SWOT section of the case study. It can be used with GCSE or A level students.
I use this case study within a full set of A level activities which is also available to purchase.

This is a double-sided sheet displaying the assessment criteria for AQA GCSE Business 9-1.
